It’s hard to know what will happen next in international relations – but these geopolitical conspiracy theories claim to have the answer.

Here are three outlandish geopolitical theories that are circulating the Internet:

(P.S.: most links in this article, by necessity, lead to less-than-trustworthy conspiracy sites. You have been warned).

1. Russia wants to restore the tsarist monarchy

Russia seems bent on recapturing former glory – and territory – these days. But is the talk of Soviet nostalgia a false flag?

Some conspiracy theorists claim that Russia’s recent power play is a lead-up to a restoration of the imperial tsarist regime.

As a sign of this, the theory points to a prophecy by the 18th century bishop Theophan Prokopovich, which says:

“Russia will be resurrected from the dead, and the entire world will be astonished. Orthodoxy in her will be reborn and triumph … the people themselves will restore the Orthodox Monarchy. A mighty Tsar’ will be placed upon the Throne by God Himself. He will be a great reformer, and he will be strong in the Orthodox faith.”

The theory doesn’t state whether Putin will get to be Tsar, or if someone else will be chosen. But the in the latter case, the last Tsar still has living descendants.

2. Bankers are killing themselves, or each other, ahead of a financial collapse

There’s been an “epidemic” of apparent suicides among bankers recently, all around the world, among employees of major banks such as JP Morgan.

But with the financial markets running at all-time highs, asks fringe trading site Zero Hedge, why is this happening?

Obviously, it’s a coverup. Either these bankers are jumping off buildings, or shooting themselves with nail guns, because they are too involved with shady financial deals.

Or, as the Economic Collapse Blog suggests, it’s simply because “dead bankers don’t talk” – implying, of course, that the deaths have been arranged.

(Nevermind that the “death epidemic” is a totally made-up narrative).

3. All global terrorism is orchestrated by Israel

We all know Mossad, Israel’s version of the CIA, has been involved in some pretty shady stuff.

But according to this theory, Israel’s manipulation of world affairs goes way beyond assassinations in Dubai or kidnapping ex-Nazis:

As part of a plot to draw the U.S. into wars, the theory states, Mossad has orchestrated terrorism across the world, from Palestine to the Philippines. They created Al-Qaeda, and yes, they were behind 9/11.

Exhibit number one? Adam Yahiye Gadahn, an American Islamist convert who works for Al-Qaeda, and also happens to be the grandson of Carl Pearlman, a former director of the Jewish Anti-Defamation League (cue dramatic music).
